When one sense is over-stimulated, some information can be provided through an alternative sense. For example, if someone is listening music, some acoustic warnings can be provided visually.
The normal perception through one sense can be augmented with some environment information (captured automatically or not). For example, visual perception can include additional information about the objects included in the view.
It can be possible to develop artificial senses by providing the same information through another sense. A deaf person can perceive some acoustic information through an alternative sense: sight, touch, smell or taste.
The normal perception can be improved by increasing the human capabilities providing human with an advanced sense. For example, visual representation of acoustic signals with energy in frequencies out of the audible range.
